Timetrack is a small Win32 utility that tracks labor time on a Windows PC.
The software loads and places a small clock icon in the Windows system tray. Right-clicking this icon presents the user with a menu of possible direct and indirect labor tasks.
When selecting any pre-existing indirect labor entry, Timetrack generates a log file using the current Windows username as the title, in the same directory where it is installed. The log file contains the start time, username, and task of every entry selected.
When selecting Direct Labor or the manual Indirect Labor entry at the top of the menu, Timetrack prompts the user to manually type a description for the task they are beginning.
While a task is being performed, Timetrack also records and presents the elapsed time between the events. After selecting the Clock Out! menu entry, the end user is presented with a summarized list of all times included in that particular log file.
Timetrack is a stand-alone application with no installation required. Simply download and save the timetrack.exe to any directory on your computer and execute it. It can also be run from a single shared directory on a Windows network and it will record separate log files for each user that uses the application. This is useful for tracking labor in small teams of software developers, support operators and others.
Log files contain comma separated field values and are easily parsed to create automated reports or import into a database.
Timetrack is currently a free download. Please let us hear how you use Timetrack in your organization and of any comments or suggestions you may have for improvement.
